South Australia

South Australia’s failed renewables experiment has seen it overtake Denmark to have the highest power prices in the world.

The state’s rush to renewables has led to an energy system in crisis with skyrocketing power prices and disastrous blackouts.

The Australian Energy Market Operator recently released its fourth consecutive report which noted that faults in South Australian windfarms caused their statewide blackout in September 2016.

South Australia is also forced to import electricity from Victoria to make up for when the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow.

This has put further strain on the National Electricity Market and placed Victoria in a precarious position of not having enough electricity to meet their own needs during peak time.
